Rendezvous Classes

Post by Minna Ulmer » Mon Aug 18, 2008 2:52 pm

I'm excited about rendez. and so glad to see classes posted. I was wondering, about classes possibly "canceled and added" as stated in the class info. I did not see an instructor name by pool roll classes. I hope this won't be cancelled. I'm a little worried because I realize there are lots of opportunities for this in Little Rock and elsewhere. Don't know who else is in my "boat"(ha ha) but I live pretty far from any roll sessions. Yes,I've contacted Jeff Pinnell and they havn,t been having them for a while. I know Little Rock will have some Sat. rolling in the fall and I can make it to that. I realize there is a lot more to whitewater kayaking than rolling, but it is a prerequisite to other classes and besides,I want to learn it :!: Just wondering, and a BIG THANKS to all instructors and organizers of Rendezvous. :D Minna

Safe to say that several folks will be around to help out so no worries!

Deffiantley plan on the UALR sessions too, it's a great thing to have here in central Arkansas.

Minna, Arkadelphia is a little closer to you than Little Rock. As long as the weather stays warm, you (and others) would be welcome at my place any Saturday or Sunday afternoon for some informal roll practice. I have a small private lake just off the Caddo River (about 1/2 mile from the I 30 / Hwy 7 interchange in Caddo Valley). Plenty of room; pea gravel beach, etc. I could provide some pointers on rolling, too. I'll be teaching my regular OBU kayaking class at this location starting the 26th. It's a great place to pratice.

You should come and get some moving water practice on the Caddo and then do some roll work. Or after some flat water roll practice (and success!) we could carry over to the river and try it out in some moving water.

Paddlers are always welcome at our place.

Byron, if we get enough rain (bitting my tounge) are you at school this week or up for paddling?

Definitely tied up Thursday and Friday. Might get away tomorrow.

Let's try again for your roll session, too. Maybe that's a good way to bring more thunderstorms our way. Worked last time!

Think that'll work for me, too. Give me a call late afternoon.
