Outfitter recommended I not do Amity as the water level had dropped and the river was in bad condition (trees down). :poke2: So I did Narrows to Glenwood.

Had a blast on my first long solo trip. :yahoo: Only 1 set of pilgrims and 2 other groups. Perfect weather, even got to go swimming :fish: a little at that nice big eddy right past the lone pine. :drool2: There is a cut tree extruding at mile marker 5 that you have to watch for. :jaws: Only place I had to go ashore and empty my boat.

Jim-at the spot where we had lunch that day, river left a shallow shoal, river right a small waterfall and center the carnage spot, I chose the carnage. After your years of mentoring and training me, I got through there easily. Almost dumped twice there but did not 'hesitate' which got me injured on a trip with others a while ago (when Gary fixed me up with an ice bottle). I ploughed right on through while the canoes were stuck in the shoal huffing and puffing.

I'm very proud of myself and grateful to you for your training and kindness.

Just call me Graham Moose.

Connie,

I'm delighted you had a good day! Also glad you floated a little shorter section too, we'll have to research that Amity run again in future. You and I have floated the Caddo Gap section so many times, I know you were well versed in what to expect along the way, good girl!

Best Regards
Jim

By the way. I came home with a beer can, 2 soda cans and perfectly good flip flop. Now who in the world leaves a perfectly good flip flop on the beach at the take out? What am I going to do with a perfectly good flip flop and no matching flip flop?

Re; Flip Flops... My friends Mike and Tonya, down at Saline River Canoe, have an office building for their float service and have been attaching many 'found single flip flops' to an exterior wall for some time now. It started out as a Daisy or Sunflower shape in the beginning but has really grown over time , I'm thinking they need to rework it into a full-sized Palm Tree as time goes on :D

Best Regards
