Rendezvous Dutch Oven cook off "rules" etc

Post by Tim Eubanks » Wed Aug 13, 2014 8:38 pm

This is NEW and IMPROVED Dutch Oven Cook Off and party for chefs. This even is about fun. Serious fun. Oh, and good food. Maybe good beer.
Prizes from GSI Outdoors, Lodge, CampChef,Igloo, and more. Trophies!!No entry fee. Yes, you can win a prize but don't have to pony up any $ to enter.

Charcoal provided by ACC. We'll also have at least 2 starter chimneys and a propane blaster to get you cooking the easy way. Cooking area, "Iron Chef Stadium" is between dining hall and the pavillions. You can start cooking when Rescue Rodeo is finished if needed but not before. We don't want to get in the way.
Be ready to plate at 6 pm Saturday. Bowls and plates provided
Your dish can be your contribution to pot luck after judges have their samples

Categories will be decided once cooking gets going. Bring your best and rock the house!
Dishes judged on taste. This year's judges like spicy food, so don't hold back!
Ingredients can be pre-cooked and prepped but final dish must be assembled and cooked in a dutch oven (or other cast iron/aluminum cookware) using charcoal in "Dutch oven kitchen stadium"

As of today there are 6 Dutch ovens available don't have one but would like to enter . First come-first cooking on these.
Each chef is responsible for clean up and ash disposal. Water is on site

Get your recipes perfected ( or just wing it) and come enjoy the fun! We have a limited number of Dutch ovens available for use. No excuses!

I know ACC is providing charcoal; however, does that mean that wood is discouraged? I would prefer bring and cook with mesquite, would that be OK?

FYI and for what its worth: This is a "One Pot/dish" contest, just so we're all on the same page. Again, dishes judged on taste, not so much on how pretty it is.
