for some... we generally go around three day weekends (forth of july ,labor,Memorial) and take one day off...
ie. leave thur after work, paddle fri sat sun, mon morn and head back. Its a 10 hr drive for us, 8 for LR folks....
Keep in mind this and any other trip is not a club event...Just a bunch of knuckleheads going boating.
its usually a good time w/ lots of Ar/La/Mo/Tx/ok boaters

I would love to go to this, but would need to find something for my wife to do as she is not ready for class 3.

Just drive an hour over to the Nantahala. I took my wife for the first time last year and she loved it. It's a great float and awesome scenery. My wife is going again with me this year. We are staying at the whitewater inn in Ocoee. Got to have AC!
