Tornado safety tip

Random thought....Store your paddling helmets/bike helmets and PFD's where you might take shelter if possible. They might save your life from crushing injuries and or flying debris.

You know, that is an AWESOME random thought. Last night my wife and our newest soon to be born family member were in the safest place of our house with about every available matress/cushion on hand if need be - but I totally forgot about the paddling gear!

.........my hometown til I was 30 and finally got to move to Arkansas. I think the house that Emily and I used to own has been blown away.

I wore my helmet in my inside closet couple times when tornado warnings. Gary laughed at me

I wore both my pfd and helmet a few years ago when the tornado hit Long Pool Campground... Being plain stupid, I rode it out in my truck! No one was hurt, but we had to be cut out of the campground the next day by the Forest Service!!

Had my helmet close by on my way home from Dave Robertson's 50th BD party,60 mph winds in a van with a 16 foot Buffalo atop made for a memorable ride.
Took a while to get free of the seat cushion.
My apartment is upstairs and in the event of fire my 75' Spectra throw rope is secured by the window just in case.
Taking swiftwater rescue classes makes you think about a lot of "what if's"but if you had'nt been thinking about "what if's" you would'nt take swiftwater rescue classes.
Did that make sense?
