I've been looking around at some of the posts but not finding what I am looking for. Hoping to get some suggestions on mulit-day river trips in the Arkansas or eastern OK area. Some friends and I are looking to plan a trip in the spring from Texas, all experienced self supported kayak campers, but nothing more than class II maybe one Class III (depending on flow of course) rivers paddling boats like Remix XP's and similar. Launching on a Saturday morning and taking out on Monday. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations? I know the Buffalo is always an option but fairly flat of course depending on current flow. Thanks in advance.

We've done Mulberry from Wolf Pen to Blue Hole. We camped at Turner Bend the whole time and just ran shuttles each day which worked well. Water was higher at first and did lower sections first then went back up river to catch it at good level. This plan allowed great flexibility and didn't have to break camp everyday. Also,if you want to, you can rely on some of us joining you for any/all of this that can help with shuttle as well as the outfitters (Byrd's and Turner Bend). If there is no water, there is some great hiking on the Ozark Highland Trail nearby. Keep us posted!!

I really don't think you can top the Buffalo National River both for overall experience and proximity. Basically the farther up on the watershed you put-in the more challenging the trip but that all depends on water levels, which to can monitor on this wed site. If water levels drop you can just move your trip downstream. I'm leading a trip in April for Prairie State Canoeiests, an Illinois Club and I chose the Buffalo for my trip. Good luck and have fun. Thanks for all the suggestions. Will definitely be considering all of them especially the Buffalo. Have paddled the Mulberry and will be at WW school this year so I would like to try another river. Thanks again.
