Hi! I am a relative new member to the ACC and to kayaking in general. My interest right now lies in kayaking on the Arkansas River, which I have been doing for about three months. It has been a learning process for me. For other novices, such as myself, who have an interest in kayaking on the Arkansas, I have created a blog about my experiences on it. I would love to post other people's experiences as well. Many people shy away from the Arkansas River, but so far I have found it to be pretty awesome. I hope to meet other people who think so too. Hey, Wendy! Glad you found us and welcome along. That big river is an under-used resource right here under our noses.

Welcome, Wendy. I agree that's an under-utilized river among the paddling set, at least in central Arkansas. I know Doug Webber kayaks it in the summer time, and I believe Cowper does too. If you like float camping (or think you'd like to try it) be looking here for trips that will materialize periodically.

I have seen a kayak on the Arkansas River a couple of times in the morning, but I was on my bike at the time, and the kayak was in the middle of the river. I would have liked to have introduced myself, but kind of hard to under those circumstances. Perhaps that was Doug I saw.

Float camping sounds appealing. I think I would like to try it. I will keep my eye out for trips posted here. Thanks Luke!
