While on a hike down upper/middle Mulberry river Saturday to catch some fish, we noticed some freshwater jellyfish! I don't have a good pic because they are pretty small. About the diameter of a nickel and translucent. Are they actually jellies or some sort of larvae? Any of you ichthyologists out there know what these things were?
BTW the bass were biting like crazy right after that sprinkle....

Yup, they're the real deal. IIRC, they are introduced and show up from time to time. Check out this website:

Re: Freshwater Jellyfish
We used to see them on Bull Shoals lake when I was a kid. Pretty cool critters
Re: Freshwater Jellyfish
Scott and I thought we were seeing things when we were in Tyler,TX this weekend over on Lake Palestine and saw some washed ashore. Weird!
Re: Freshwater Jellyfish
Renee, we were on Lake Palestine a couple of weeks ago. I've been trying for two years to get my brother and his brood to come up here, but I finally determined the mountain would have to go to Muhammad, so Little Deuce and I took the boat down there and we went to Palestine. Nice little lake, but I didn't see any of the jellyfish. The ones here taste like chicken.
You come too.
