LITTLE MISSOURI TAILWATER TRIP FRIDAY, JULY 20, 2012

I'm heading back to Murfreesboro this Friday, July 20th, 2012, to paddle the Little Missouri River below the Lake Greeson dam (Narrows Dam). The release starts at three o'clock; I'll be at the take-out at 2:00 p.m. to start the shuttle. Three generators will be running.

This is a Class II, five mile trip on cold water in the hot summertime. It is never hot on the water despite the air temperature. I anticipate lots of surfing. Full details of this section of the river can be found at

The shuttle is all set; all you have to do is show up.

I'll be leaving the parking lot at K-Mart on Rodney Parham in Little Rock at 11:45 a.m. to make the two hour drive and to gurarantee getting through the interstate construction and on to Murfreesboro, in case you would like to share a ride.

Glad you and Ally took part in the expedition, Bryan. It's always fun to have such enthusiastic newcomers along. Sorry my helmet cam died, or I would have had some interesting video at several spots: Ally "sneaking" the Hinds Bluff rapid by running right down the throat of the biggest hole (looked like she fell in a manhole), and you briefly catching that same hole by dropping in while looking over your shoulder. That was some excellent hand paddling, too, after you got intimate with some overhanging brush & briars below the final ledge in Hinds. All the way to the take-out. It wasn't so bad since the current is nearly constant and the river is wide enough to give a hand paddler time to maneuver. Hope your paddle finds its way home; I saw that you did have your name and phone number on it.

Hey! This is a fun run with lots of play for the experienced and novice paddler. Hope I have a working helmet cam the next time I go to Murfreesboro. We had great company, as always; the meal at the Mexican restaurant afterwards was very tasty, too.
