I'm thinking about paddling the Little Red River below Greers Ferry Dam. I spoke with someone at Lindseys Resort and they said you could paddle it with no generators. Has anyone been up there recently? What stretch would you recommend? Any info is appreciated.

We float from the JFK campground just below the dam to swinging bridge quite often. With no generators there is little to no current so be prepared for a lot of paddling. The last float we made these were the conditions and we only had to get out of our boats and walk once or twice (late May/early June). Overall its a great float. The cold water is nice on hot days and other than fisherman at the put in and take out there aren't usually a whole lot of people. If you like to fish make sure you know the laws regarding trout.

Barnett Park (Old Swinging Bridge site) to Libby's Landing is one section. Dripping Springs in Pangburn to Ramsey Access (off of Hwy 124) is another section that is good for day floats. Cow Shoals to Barnett Park shortens the trip if you don't have much time.
Might be able to help with your shuttle if schedule (summer vacation for me) allows it.
If you fish, know that some areas are artificial lures only and there might be a couple of short sections that are catch and release. Got a slot limit as well.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't currently have a trout stamp but I'll get one if I head up there because I would like to fish. I heard from a friend that the Barnett Access to Libby Access is pretty nice with some nice sand/gravel bars and a couple of islands. Roger-if we were to head up tomorrow do you think you would be able to help out with a shuttle?
Thanks again for the info-

For those that may be interested...
I floated from Barnett Access to Lobo Access yesterday afternoon. With no generators running it is still a floatable strectch. I paddled in tandem in my Two Brothers Arkota and only dragged a couple of times. As long as you don't have a tank of a boat or a really loaded down boat, this stetch is something you can get on when there isn't any water elsewhere. The shuttle is super short (roughly 10 minutes) which is really nice. I hope this helps anyone that might be interested.

Thanks for the info Torpedo! I love to trout fish & am tired of buying propellers during low water. If you see a red Arkota on the river that would be us!
