So I went to Beaver lake today and I found this near the damn
It made me want to go back and bribe the opperator to drop a bunch of rocks down by the choke point 200 yards away.

There seems to be a huge supply nearby
And the Core of Engineers seem game for this kind of project.... Not that it would actually work to bribe the guy or anything it just got my mind turning....
What do you guys think?

Having worked quite a bit with the Corps in a couple of areas, my experience is they follow the book of rules to the letter.
They use a lot of sub contractors to do the actual work.
Meaning the person operating the bucket just might work with you!

Ben,
Your best bet will probably be to go through the AGFC, which recognizes recreation as a valid use of the river. Using a Stream Team created for a recreational purpose, have the AGFC develop a plan to use a rock vane from their Rosgen manual at the location where it will benefit recreation of a wavy nature. They are heavily in favor of the Rosgen approach to river structures. You can probably get them to slightly modify the constant slope of the top of their vane to have a level section that will produce a good surfing wave along with the normal eddy those vanes create. You will need to establish the water surface elevation that typically occurs at the times you want to surf; then locate the flat section of the vane about two feet below that and you should get a good wave. Don't be dismayed at the time frame for doing this (years), hang in there and be persistent. Time will pass a lot faster than you will think and you can't beat free construction.

Has any one tried to surf the waves there that last about 15 min when the Dam starts generating then get washed out? Is worth the effort? Is there any rule/law being violated? Looks like you could put in at the rocks and take out downstream at boater ramp.
