Lake ouachita island camping

Thinking about camping on one of the islands on lake ouachita for the 1st time this weekend. Being from Texarkana I haven't visited Ouachita but only a handful of times and am unfamilar with the lake. I Was hoping someone here would have some advice or other input. Maybe recommend an island or even section of lake... I hear the lake is 8' low how does that effect the area? Maybe there is a better option that Lake Ouachita?
