Paddled 6 miles around buckville sunday and had the lake to myself. Water was flat calm and again the loons put on a stellar concert. Saw 3 eagles but all kept there distance. I was able to paddle to within 20 ft of a big flock of coots and take several photos. They never spooked and I left them to do what coots do. Here are a few images to enjoy;

Edgar,

The ducks with the red eyes are all American Coots. They are the lowly crow/blackbird types of the waterfowl world. Coots can't fly very well and are usually found in bigger groups. Eagles love 'em!!!

The Northern Shovelers (a.k.a-Spoonbills or Bootlips) are fairly common and considered one of the least desirable as far as tablefare goes. The drake pictured isn't fully plumed yet but they can get pretty striking when they are.

Wonderful pics as awlays!
