One of the funniest things I've ever seen. So true it hurts. :)
"My friends don't understand what I do, not for lack of me telling them though."
Thanks Spanks!

Yep, "we knew him when..."
(insert favorite Lane story here, or if you're an old dog like me, insert a Mike Jacobs (his dad) story instead...)

Re: If you want to laugh
Funniest thing I've seen in a LONG time.
"Rivers are the lifeblood of the earth. That's what it's really all about for me...that...and sports drinks."
"I have two types of friends - the friends I boat with, and the friends that watch videos of me boating."
"How do you feel about people that aren't you?"
And Moxie Falls...that's GOTTA be a record.
Hilarious.

We need a foamie rodeo at the next Rendezvous (or maybe S&T). Isaac and I have ours ready to go.

Re: If you want to laugh
I liked it as well.
We had some ORGT folks that used to do the "oh, no, "Mr.Billlllll....." photos and videos where ever we went back in the 70's-80's at Georgia Tech. Mr.Bill used to do unfortunate things with fire in the end. May need to send them some photos of a "Mr.Bill meets Arkansas blowlog" for old time sake this fall.

Re: If you want to laugh
I loved those videos! The first one was so impressive and the second was hilarious! If someone makes those foam boaters, I need a couple of them!

I don't know of anyone around here who makes foamies but you can get them from the link below:

Re: If you want to laugh
Don't wuss out and buy them. Make 'em yourself! Especially if you have a young-un, it makes for a great afternoon project. Isaac (7 years old) and I made ours out of foam, toothpicks, bamboo skewers (cheap at Wal Mart), Weldwood cement, finishing nails, and some silicone caulk. Just carve all the parts seperately from the foam (body, arms, head, boat). Make the arms a little longer and fatter than looks normal for a kayaker so you can get the paddle in them without any problems. You can always cut some extra off, but hard to add on. Use rough sandpaper to finish the pieces if you like it looking smooth (the hull of the boat is the main thing to have smooth). Stick the parts together with toothpick pieces to get things looking like you want. Then add the contact cement for a permanent bond. The paddle consists of two small blocks of foam on the ends of a sawed off bamboo skewer, with the shaft/skewer stuck through near the ends of the kayakers arms/hands. Then fill a sink with water and insert nails in the bottom of the boat until sits trim and level upright and until you can knock it upside down and it rolls up. Then patch over the nails/holes with sillicone caulk. Took maybe 20 to 25 nails for ours, but that depends on the size of yours (our boats were about 6 inches long). If you want your foamie bombproof, you can paint it or I found this stuff called "plasti-dip" at a hardware store (recommended by an online foamie web site), and painted it on. Isaac and I take our foamies out and throw them around in the little creeks near the house all the time. They are virtually invincible (although we almost lost "Lucky" one time - they're easy to lose track of!). Don't worry if they don't look very professional. Ours don't and they paddle like pros in a 4 inch tall wave!
That's my foamie story. Isaac and I are preparing for the foamie rodeo. We'll have ours at Dale Barton's Halloween party, if anyone wants to come join us.

Re: If you want to laugh
Well I must say I'm feeling a little bit depressed right now
. After years of professional training and experience, I see that a brainless piece of foam can:
Pick a better line that I can.
Run the line more successfully than I can.
Roll better than I can.
Rodeo better than I can.
It's just not fair......
