Post by lbaker » Tue Jul 13, 2010 6:20 am

Looking at the gauge you guys must of gotten some rain. It's in the moderate range at St. Joe. Anyone up to do a trip from Gilbert to 14? I can leave asap :D

OK But, I need to take the dog to the kennel and gather gear. It's a good 6-7 hrs for me so I'd prefer at least an overnight, but doesn't mean you guys would have to. I could spend a night after a day trip. Let me know when you want to meet and when
Also, Bob, are you sure about the upper??

I am busy today taking care of loose ends after spending 4 weeks at scout camp but should be available tomorrow.

I would prefer doing at least one night gravel bar camping. Campgrounds are less than inviting to me in the summer. The middle/lower Buffalo has the best gravel bars but the upper is not to be discounted either.

We are through with the rain on the Buffalo for a while but I think the river is still rising. Not sure if Ponca has crested or not. If it has I think Boxley and possibly Ponca are out for tomorrow. Forecast for the rest of the week and beyond is for very hot and humid. River will drop out pretty fast.

Here are the river gages.

Update:
At 4:15 am Ponca was at 2.5 which equates with 24" of air space. By the end of the day I expect it to be around 2.0. Anything below 2.5 is asking for boat damage. (my opinion).
PB has not been heard from but I expect he is going to be somewhere between Ponca and Hasty.

6am Just got a call from Leigh. We are putting in at Woolum and taking out at Grinders Ferry. Camping somewhere in between on a gravel bar. Steve is doing a day trip with us. Anyone is welcome to join us. 501-450-0217

karla, without anymore water added, and as fast as it's dropping, euribe down to pruitt, or pruitt to hasty. would be my best guess... just maybe kyles to euribe, but thats so close to "bump and grind" low water! .... :poke: make Gary go wash his new truck, and leave the windows down...

Leigh, PB and Steve . . . thank you for an enjoyable float. Water was at a good level but murky. Which one of us was assigned to turn on the A/C for this trip?!?!?! :poke:
