Dagger Nomad 8.0

Post by c-stan » Thu Jun 24, 2010 12:00 am

Beginner looking to get a solid boat to start with before moving on. I think Dagger Nomad 8.0 would be great boat, however open to suggestions from ones with experience. 5' 8" 160lbs. Going to college so money is tight!

The Nomad is a great boat, but you can find something very similar that's cheaper than a Nomad if you're on a budget. If you're a beginner, it probably will make zero difference, except to your pocketbook. There are a bunch of creek boats designs that are very similar to the Nomad which will be lower priced on the used market: Dagger CFS, Liquid Logic Huck or Hoss, Wavesport Diesel or Y, etc. (Just to name a few.) Those boats are older designs, but they're basically equivalent to the Nomad for what you're wanting to do. Should be able to pick one up used in the $200 to $400 range instead of the $500+ range for the currently popular Nomad.
