Paddling after Rec School

I have a couple of friends from south TX who are coming back from a visit in southeastern Kansas right after the Rec School. They have a tandem and a dog that's accustomed to paddling. The Buffalo is on there way, but I know it's low. I did a float last July from Gilbert to Hwy 14 and although low, never drug til the takeout, and that could have been avoided. I just don't recall what the level was then. I'm trying to keep them from driving too far out of their way. If it's doable I think it would be a good choice for them.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks,
Leigh
I also considered, if the Buffalo is too low, having them come to the Spring and just do some day paddles as we can run our own shuttles. I have no idea how crazy the Spring is on a weekday though.

The Spring is very non-crazy  on weekdays, and if at about 3.5' by then, mostly Class I to -II ish water.

FYI - Not sure where you would be paddling on the Spring, but at Riverside Resort, the paddling school site, no pets are allowed.
