Post by milburnd » Sun May 16, 2010 6:44 pm

Would the person with the black carbon handled kayak paddle please call the cell number on the paddle blade, left at Clinton, AR hyw 65 bridge South Fork Little Red bridge, bridge constrution worker said he gave it away, sort of doubt it since he said he called and the phone number was no good, anyway please call if you have it, will gladly pay postage, and $25.00 reward or pick it up. Was given to me by a paddling buddy that is no longer with us. Thanks

Bad deal on the paddle, sorry that happened.

Were you floating the SFLR below Hwy 95, above Hwy 65? I was wondering about what conditions you found. I've only done that stretch once, and it looked like some of the recent tornado damage might have put trees in the river near Hwy 95.

SFLR Conditions

Post by milburnd » Mon May 17, 2010 6:25 pm

Lost gear is nothing new, left my shoes at the put, just a bit sad someone wouldn't call the phone number on the paddle.

Was at the SFLR last Wednesday, Granddad had a farm on the SFLR 1/4 east of the 95 bridge, between Clinton and Scotland. Tornado put trees and strainers all in that section, rode 4 wheeler across the fields about a mile downstream from the bridge and river looked clear but who knows what has floated downstream. I went up to the low water bridge on Gulf Mountain, Scotland, AR was hit bad, but nothing at the low water bridge, did not check the Low Gap RD bridge north east of Scotland, locals call it Posseum Walk or Old Swinging bridge. Did run into about 6 yakers taking out at the Gulf Mountain bridge, they had put in about 6 miles upstream and said it was a heck of a run, have not done that yet.

Live in MS Delta, retired so will be in the area off and on until the rivers start drying up, will try to post conditions, or email you. Have you run Archey's Fork there at Clinton or know where to put in, have tried every side road and trail up to above Crabtree, have one more to check.
