You can check the details by going to the ACC home page, clicking "Events" from the menu, and the "Pool Sessions in Little Rock - UALR"...
or just go here:
http://www.arkansascanoeclub.com/Defaul ... eId=490025
Best and ONLY way to to get to the main parking area by the student center is to enter off of University. None of the other roads on the UALR campus that are shown on the map connect any longer.

Thanks, I was thinking about going tonight. Is anybody else going to be there?

Yup - I know of at least 3 who were planning on it...including me. I have stopped saying I'm going to the pool because every time I do it seems like something at work blows up and then I can't come, but since it's already 4pm, I'm going to predict I really will make it tonight!
Or, I have just utterly jinxed myself.

This is my first time visiting the site. I had no idea there was a canoeing pool session and i go to school at UALR! I know the session is starting right about now but i didn't plan on going since its about to storm... but for next week, I'm wondering do you have to be a ACC member to come to the pool sessions?

Probably a good call on your part! We spent 30 minutes in the pool, and then an hour in the locker room waiting for the tornado sirens to quit!

Yes, you should be an ACC member to access the pool as that is part of our agreement with UALR, but actually that might be ACC member OR UALR student. Let's see if Joe can jump in and maybe clarify that. But for $25 a year, it's a darn good deal for access to the pool almost year round for roll practice...many other chapters have arrangements which entail a $5 or $10 fee per session, so we think we've got a pretty good deal going here for folks in this area.
Regardless, though you certainly can stop by and chat and check everything out sometime. Saturday's session is closed; Joe will post early next week to confirm about next week's sessions.
PS...(and this isn't directed at you!!!) But
a reminder to EVERYONE that we need to rinse our boats off/out EVERY time. What if your boat is brand new/just came off of the OOO showroom floor? What if your boat has been in your garage since last session when you rinsed it out? YES - STILL RINSE YOUR BOAT! The lifeguards do not know where your boat has been since the last session, so even if you are 100% positive your boat is squeaky clean, please at least go through the motions of hosing it off. It only takes a minute, and skipping it is not worth jeopardizing our access! (Plus some poor soul has to go to the trouble to roll that hose out and then to roll that hose back up each time...the least everyone else can do is use it!)

(okay sorry: lecture over!)
Cheers

Hi Kelly, this is the part where I will jump in per Lupe's request.
First, welcome to the board, and to the sport. I too, am a student here at UALR, well at least until May.
Anyway, the short answer is if you're a student, you have access to the pool and pool sessions. Outsiders that are neither a student nor ACC member have access to the pool sessions, but after attending one or two ( to test the waters and see if it's for you sort of thing ), we recommend joining the ACC because of the insurance setup. Being a student, the pool sessions are extended to you through the DSC (they advertise it on their pamphlet, or at least they did last year), but like Lupe said, joining the club will not only help you by way of meeting new boaters, trying out boats, etc...but you'll also be up to date on all the programs, trips, and other benefits the club has.
So if you decide that boating it the sport for you, the dues more than pay for themselves in the friends you'll make and functions you'll end up enjoying.
Glad to have you,
Joe
