Stephen Zisner's Corsica "S" Stolen!

Post by Eric Esche » Tue Jul 28, 2009 1:41 pm

I was at the NW chapter meeting last night and heard Stephan say that he is without a boat right now. ??? Seems his green Perception Corsica "S" was stolen out of his carport/front yard last month. He shrugged and said it was just an old boat, when I asked him WHY he did not report it. They did not take the paddle that was in the front yard near it.

Boat theft makes me madder than _ _ _ _ ! We ALL need to be on the look out for this boat. Grrrrrr. Call me if you see it, as I think I can get free to come identify it and I am willing to drop things to come do it. I am not proposing any lynching or gunslinging as we do have to go through law enforcement to prosecute anyone as vile as this, but we have to act as a group and make sure no one gets away with this if we can.

Stephan's boat should be easily recognizable by it's having deck bungees on it's front deck. Only Corisca "S" that I have seen modified this way. I think I remember seeing his name written on the inside when he was at a roll practice (but not sure about that) and it is a green perception Corsica "S". Not many of those boats still around. Markers can be removed easily with some solvents, but theose deck bungees should be a big clue.

Here is hoping that someone out there sees it and tells us or Stephan. Stephan says he will get around to looking for a replacement, but it wasn't a serious priority at this time. I told him I would look and keep my ears open and I offered him loan of my Skreem if he wants to paddle.

If someone has an old river runner out there, that Stephan could get inexpensively, I think it would be great to get him back on the water as he has always been generous in volunteering to do things like hosting a summer pool party and cook out at his house for the NW chapter. I usually hear his say "How can I help?" when anything is going on. He is just the type of person who will never ask anything for himself.

I hate to hear hard working people getting their boats stolen from them. I have an old town rush that he can use for when ever and keep at his house until he finds something.

I just saw this post. Here are a few pictures of Stephen's boat that I took during our War Eagle Appreciation Day float a few months ago. They're cropped in from much larger images but you can see the color and the distinctive bungee cord arrangement on the front deck. Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting the pictures! Your photo's also reminded me that there may also be some carving on the front wall that could be distinctive. I remember telling Stephan he needed to do that when he was having problems getting into and out of the boat, and that he needed to do that modification for safety reasons immediately. Seems like he had done some by the next roll session but can not swear to this unless I saw it or talked with him.

Well, the pictires are out there thanks to DMG.

Y'all can go look on Playak, Eddyflower, or whatever data base you want if you doubt it is a Mirage. Fairly sure Stephan told me it was a Mirage, so that is what I wrote. And fairly sure it was not the later and shorter/stubbier Corsica, or Dancer. Might even have been a Quest as it was a "close" in year and specs. Here is a link to what Playak shows as a Mirage:

http://playak.com/kayaks.php?id=1605#morepics1605" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Anyway it is an old chalky green Perception kayak, probably had bow deck bungees, and may have some carving on the bow deck support foam.

Find the boat out there and who stole it and maybe we will know for sure.

Re: Stephen Zisner's Corsica "S" kayak Stolen!

I stand corrected. Thank you for correcting me. Stephan gave me the following info:

The kayak that was stolen IS a Corsica "S".

It had an aftermarket back band by Immersion Research.

It had an aftermarket drain plug that was offset.

It had bungee cords added to the deck.

It had foam carved away from the front foam wall.

Hope someone sees it and gets it back to Stephan.

Thanks, and sorry for the incorrect details.
