The OMP website just changed, but they have good folks up there in OMP, who paddle down here when they can and they have several local trips up there in Missouri. Nice folks. Can give you folks to contact if you need a local reference up there. "Gut-it" on this board lives there when he is not on an ocean working merchant marine, and there are other paddlers up there as well. Give me a PM. My wife and I have paddled with OMP on Flat Creek and had a very good time.

Hey Greg!

Welcome to Sprangfield!

The ACC does not have a chapt. in Spfld. Or anywhere in MO that I know of.

Kind of wish they did and have entertained thoughts…

Whether there is a chapter or not, you can still be a member of the ACC. The message board enables you to feel and be a part of whats happening within the ACC. The Ozark Society is another organization you should also consider. They once had a chapter in Springfield but it is no longer active even though there are several Ozark Society members in the area.

Well, I believe if you can get 10 (or is it 12?) members together, then you can start a chapter. We do have "satellite" chapters - 2 in Oklahoma and our newest chapter ArkLaTex, so you know, that "Arkansas" thing is just a formality! However, you can join the club as a member and have no chapter affiliation...and if you just want to take advantage of our message board and trips and camaraderie offered through the message board...no membership necessary (not that as Membership Chair I would ever turn down a membership application! :D If you do become a member then your dues help to support this site and fund various club activities we hold throughout the year...from social gatherings like Surf n Turf to educational events like Paddling Clinics, Swiftwater Rescue Clinics, etc.)

As others pointed out, there is the Ozark Mountain Paddlers and also Missouri Whitewater Association...

I know it's a long drive, but maybe we'll see you at Rockport sometime this summer! We're all hoping for rain, too, but alas we know the "dry" season is upon us...

Cheers,
Heather aka Lupe

I've heard that into every life a little of it must fall,
but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.
