THURSDAY PADDLING CLASS II+, APRIL 30, 2009

Post by CAPTAIN ALEVE » Wed Apr 29, 2009 6:33 pm

We've got Hot Springs Creek (in Hot Springs)and the South Fork of the Little Red (west of Clinton) in mind, but may consider others. We'll check the gages in the morning to see what's happening. Could use some more paddlers, so post if you would like to come along.

We are going to investigate Bayou Des Arc near Rosebud and some feeder creeks first. Or we may end up on Hogan Creek or the SFLR. We will probably be at the intersection of 65 and 225 in Greenbrier about 10:00 a.m. but call me if you want to catch us for sure. 501 681 next 2314.

Well, after much to do, four of us finally made it to our old auxillary put in off Dabney Road for the Section 1 of SFLRed. It was about 2:15pm and overcast, when we launched on a mile of feeder creek, and we did about 8+ miles down to the cable hazard where our warning sign was still hanging, and an access trail hit the creek.
Section 1 is still there, and offerred us lots of thrills, a few spills, and some good headcam video. We had two portages I believe. We'll get the new access directions wrote up soon and see if Fish will update it on his website. I'll also try and update the AW site, and edit some video footage and get a short version posted soon.
