Blowlogs

After reading another post about blowlogs, it seems that I may have not been recieving the full pyromaniac experience that I could. I was under the impression that a blowlog was a hollow log that was placed on a fire, and the fire came out of the top. However it seems that if one places certain materials in said hollow log it will make lots of noise and hurl these materials into the air. So the pyromaniac in me would like to know what type of materials these are, or is that some sacred recipe that I will have to learn in the coming years of my paddling experience? With that said I find the way I have been going at it seems to be a good enough excuse to have a few cold ones

From what I've "heard" if you stack extra wood down the "barrel" about three quarters of the way up,let it ignite, then place a coleman propane cylinder in said barrel and wait...I've been"told" coleman tanks are stronger than Walmart knock-offs(thus giving a bigger bang). I've also "heard" you start with one about one-quarter full and work your way up to a full can.Granted this is all hearsay...
Remember: always be safe   .

blowlogger motto: "if you're gonna be dumb , you gotta be tough"

And I thought the motto was: "It's only funny until someone gets hurt, then it's hilarious!"

I have had a lot more fun with empty areasol spray cans. Aqua Net hair spray, Right Gard Deodorant, etc. No need to loose an appendage.

It is also fun to find hollow logs that have branches or Y's in them and just watch them burn. The chimney effect makes it a nice fire as there isn't near as much smoke to have to avoid cause it is going straight up for the most part. Plus you don't work yourself half to death adding wood constantly. One big log can burn and provide hours of entertainment.

Watching the log disintegrate and develop fissures and cracks is cool.

Like to call such logs, "Logs of Interest" rather than "Blow Logs"

Dave, BTW, that Log of Interest you HAD at your cabin was outstanding in its performance last night!!! JK! Thanks again for the hospitality as it was nice to hear the rain on a rooftop rather than a tent top. Be sure to check behind the cushions upstairs when you go by there!

Ya, that there is the "Mother of all Blowlogs".

The rest of it is still out in the woods waiting a clandestine recovery and extraction exercise. Bubba Seals. 8)

Breaux Dave, when you fire that offspring off or its mother, I wanna be there!! That suckah has walls thick enough to fire some Coleman fuel cells off at the start!
