As someone who helps manage some of that (part time), it's trickier than you might realize, and it's constantly evolving. I started out trying to use the upcoming events thread to capture "most" events. Then I got special requests for putting stickies back on the events when they were getting really close- say within a week or two. That made sense, and became the norm. Then some other "major" events like Canoe School, or events of "special" importance like the Instructors Clinic or the Paddle for the Planet event got permanent stickies. And then still more events and announcements and other stuff got stickied by other moderators; since I share the duties, I didn't feel totally right about playing god and removing stickies placed by others. So now, you're right, it's probably out of control again.

Keep it clean, but some more feedback from others will be welcome, and then we'll whittle away at it some more and see what we can do.

I do not disagree with your suggestion about getting a personalized sticky two weeks before event; however, I also like the way Tarver posts weekly on UALR pool sessions. This leaves it up to the individuals involved to promote there on events. Also instead of Upcoming events maybe we could have one titled "Pool Sessions" another "River Cleanups" as these tend to be the most common and are a little more descriptive. I am also thinking we could remove the ACC Members forum announcement.
