Middle Buffalo River Level Question

Post by Owl » Wed Oct 22, 2008 8:07 pm

Unless tonight's rain causes a significant rise, the middle Buffalo (at the Hwy. 65 gauge) will be around 4' by the weekend. 4' is in the "low but floatable" range and I'm wondering if that's sufficient water for an overnight trip from Woolum or Baker Ford to Tyler Bend or if one would be dragging a lot. I've never been on that section below 5' so have no experience with lower water levels.

Thanks for any information.

There will be some dragging. The big difference is that you will be doing a lot more paddling because the river will not have much flow to it. Call Tyler Bend at 870-439-2502 for their thoughts. In particular, ask them about the river between Woolum and Margaret-White if you are thinking about putting in at Woolum.

Thanks, Richard.

The person to whom I spoke at TB said "some dragging", also.
