I second the nomination of the highly esteemed HDH for the distinguished office of President of the Bayou Chapter of the Arkansas Canoe Club.

We need to pick out a place and an evening the first week of February for an organizational meeting and get this going. Seems there's plenty of interest, so lets act!! What should we do about 2009 ACC dues? Can we pay now and add our chapter affiliation later, or what?

The board meeting is the weekend of Feb. 20.

Shreveport/Bossier is the obvious place to meet. One of y'all from that area suggest a place and date for the Bayou chapter organizational meeting.

For those ACC members that can't attend on that date, we'll ask that they submit by snail mail a generic letter of interest in a Bayou chapter in time to be included with our request to the board.

Don't know Harlan, but he seems like he might be the kind of leader to encourage good eats and cold brews. If there are other nominees they can be made at the meeting and we'll have an election by those ACC members present. We could also have ACC membership registration forms available for anyone wanting to join.

I've got access to Rock Solid Camp- it's got a back room with enough room to meet and a climbing wall (for those interested). If nowhere else can be found, we can easily meet here- it's right beside the Duck Pond Park and the Broadmoore library. I've just got to clear it with my boss if that's where y'all want to meet.

Though,

I don't see why we couldn't have a meeting at another roll session/boatball at the LSUS pool and eat after. That seems like the most obvious/active/fun thing to do.

Just a suggestion.

At this time, I would like to offer my endorsement of Harlan Hughes to the office of president of the yet to be formed Southern Chapter of the ACC. I have known Harlan personally for many years and he has always demonstrated the highest degree of leadership. He also abounds in solid moral fiber. In my opinion he has the vision to birth this chapter in to an era of excellence. HARLAN FOR PRESIDENT, 09!!
Respectfully, Rusty Mills

One question...
How can Harlen be president when, according to the color of his name on the message board shows him not to be a member of the ACC? Is he not a member,or is the "board" not correct? Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem I have had? I guess being from Oklahoma makes you a step-child to the ACC Board elite...

I am still getting the list together. I will set a meeting for next week and will let everyone know by Thursday evening. I will contact Louis,Butch,Diona and Adam to help set the time and place. The main reason for the meeting is to establish officers and have something in writing to present at ACC board meeting .
