Weekend at the Tot

Post by mgood » Wed Mar 11, 2009 10:51 am

I realize that a ton of people are running the tot today and tomorrow. I won't be free till friday night. The Goodwin's will be at the Tot all saturday (thank god it'll be a little warmer than it is right now) and a good chunk of sunday. Any Ark-la-tex boaters wanting to head up- we'll be leaving friday night and setting up camp. Chief goals are a a full run on the river- from Ed Banks (or a little higher) down to 278 bridge, and maybe baker (I've been waiting a long time). Hope everyone gets a good run in this week.

I'd love to run Baker for the first time as well. Looks like lots more big heavy storms are still coming to engulf that area. I have to play late tonight, but I might be willing to sleep in my car again if someone's gonna run it, hehehehe.

We'll definately be running saturday and sunday. The 'Tot should hold out for a good level on saturday without rain- and there's three more days of rain in the forecast (including the rest of today). I think it'll work out. 318-272-3293.

We're heading up early tomorrow morning, gonna try to be there at 9. Me, Adam (Kayakn), Harlan (hdh), not sure who else. If Baker is running then it's unanimous that we're doing that. Otherwise, you guys think Machine will be runnable over the top if there's no more rain?? Been wanting to do that for a while :D

I'm off this weekend. I'm still nervous about the Tot, but I'm definitely considering it! I'm tempted to hike it Saturday to check it out and run it Sunday when it's a little warmer! lol

Looks like the weekend is going to be prime. Cossatot bound Friday night and ready for Saturday & Sunday. Renee, Heath, all Ark-La-Tex boaters keep in touch for any last minute changes. Anyone else traveling from Shreveport or Texarkana on Friday night or early Saturday am give me a call (318) 347-9600. Micah's soccer coach dosen't understand that paddling takes priority and he might have to come later Saturday.

RomanLA -- At this level you don't necessarily have to run the Falls -- nor may you want to if the pucker factor is too high -- above Ed Banks the Tot offers some fairly sweet paddling with some nice scenery. Shouldn't be overlooked. And even if you decide to put in at Ed Banks to enjoy the Esses, the lower take-out is actually just above the falls. And even then if you decide to run the falls I think you'll find plenty of people to point out the cleanest lines and lord forbid you take a spill you might get entangle in a web of throw ropes as folks are going to look after ya.
