My last contact with Mr. John H. Tillman found him residing at 16 Sunset Lane, Greenbrier, phone (501)679-8901. He attends church in Guy and I don't think he would move from the area -- I believe his daughter still owns the log cabin and land on the SE corner of the bridge. The last I saw him was about 9 months or so ago.

It is my understanding he has previously been approached by the AGF&C -- may or may not be true. He has subdivided the property into approx. 20-30 lots and has submitted the plat to the county clerk's office but I've seen no development other than a new gravel road that winds through the property that is accessed from Cargile Lane. Several years ago I offered to buy the entire piece of property for what I considered to be an "outrageous price" at the time and he turned me away. He has spoke from time to time to returning to the property and building a home -- he showed me a site he has cleared in support of this move but nothing has transpired. I do not know what or if any mineral leases or developments are planned with regard to the Fayetteville shale play -- the closest wells are currently about a mile to the SE. He is very approachable and friendly but seemingly in no hurry to sell or relinquish interest in the property. Hopefuly that is no longer the case.

That's not a working number for Mr. Tillman.

Larry - I called John's son at who is also named John -- his number is (501) 679-4196 -- and relayed the message that we'd like to speak with him. He would not give me his father's phone number but told me he would pass along the message -- I just told him that "a representative of the Arkansas Canoe Club would like to discuss acquiring via lease or purchase an easement or parcel of land on the creek". Rather than give him your home or office number without your permission I offered our 1-800 number at the office with the expectation that he'll call me back in the next day or two. Will keep you posted.

If you are in Guy -- you might even want to drop in on John -- he still lives at 16 Sunset Lane from what I gathered today -- it's the road that goes west past the bank -- his home is the last home on the north side of the road just before you come to the curve to the south/left -- new home sitting near a manufactured home (where he lived while the house was under construction) and workshop -- the "lake" is just behind the house.

Anyone know? If there's a chance to paddle, I have kayaks and gear to load tonight! :P

I wasn't saying whether folks should or shouldn't use this access, just making them aware of some of the factors to be considered.

For those who decide to use the Pinnacle Springs access, I suggest you do what I did the last time I used it. After you load up you boat, spend about 30 minutes picking up some of the roadside trash. During that time, some of the "locals" will drive by, and with any luck at all, they will both realize what you are doing, and see your boat. If you're really, really lucky, maybe the landowner will drive by...
Trash: Get a little every time you go!

Indeed -- Time to run those rain-dependent streams. But anytime you make the drive and if wanting to access at CCO just drop me a line.

And Larry -- got the needed contact info. See PM.

Thanks! I'm working a ton of overtime right now, so I don't want to leave my kids for the weekend. I'm going to take them to Petit Jean and maybe run over to the Cadron (if my sister comes along to babysit). Hopefully, I'll get a chance to do the Piney and/or Mulberry this spring. If not, I'll just make one of my insane weekend Nanty runs!

A group at the Illy Bayou... you oughta get some of that. One of my favorites cuz you can make lots of it harder. Of course Cadron is in the backyard......
