Cardio workout anyone?
Cardio workout anyone?
Saturday morning about 9:30AM, I plan to put in under the I-430 bridge in west Little Rock, then paddle up the Little Maumelle river for about 2 or 3 hours or until I can’t go any further, whichever comes first, … take a short break and then head back to the bridge. No shuttling. There should be very little current going upstream. My main objective (besides getting out on the water) is to get some exercise and maybe burn some calories. Any takers?

The start time has been moved back to 11:00AM for some out of town paddlers. It will also be a little warmer.

Re: Cardio workout anyone?
Hey Michael,
I'm thinking of paddling from Pinnacle Mt to Burnett so I can set GPS coordinates for areas where we would want to concentrate on for the trash pick up we're trying to organize...but it won't exactly be a cardio work out...more a slow paddle poking back into the feeder streams and taking some "before" photos of the trashy areas. But if you all decide to move upstream, maybe I'll see you...or maybe we'll all end up off the river about the same time to meet up for good HOT chili from Gadwall's!
Later,

We are doing a Cardio workout in the Piney bay area at noon tomorrow. Little Rock is just a little too far to drive and Piney bay is more sheltered from the wind plus the water is nicer.

I was hoping to learn to roll my new boat at UALR Saturday, but I see now that the pool is closed that day, so I may join you. I'll be guy with the blue Dagger Approach 10.
Thanks,

Upon further reflection...I'm going to go on Sunday when it will be a little less windy. Mike Sullivan and I plan to meet late morning if anyone else wants to join then.
Hope you all have a nice workout...if that wind hits ya it should definitely help the cardio!

Re: Cardio workout anyone?
A very nice paddle on the Little Maumelle today for me, Michael Strobel and Mike Beebe! We made a 7.20 mile round trip from the ramp just above the I-430 bridge on the Ark. River, up the Little Maumelle River to the Barnetts (sp.) landing.A stiff head wind on the way up did help us on the way back. Various ones of us took the lead at times, but I was in the lead to see the most ducks I think, some very fast and pretty Green-Head mallards and hens, also many small birds ,and a Red-Tailed hawk. This trip is pretty straight and open but I really like the scenery, especially the ' old remnant' trees which remain along the old river channel from a time before Murray Lock and Dam backed the Arkansas, and Little Maumelle up and drowned them. Thanks again guys, it's so good to get out on most any 'Winter Doldrums' trip and it was a delightful day!
Best Regards
Jim Moose.

What a beautiful day to be on the water. Thanks to Michael Strobel for putting today's paddle together. Since there was only three of us, it gave us more time to visit while getting a good workout too. Look forward to doing this again soon.
