Paddle grip
anybody ever try out the paddle grip these guys make?
http://www.kayakhabit.com/
it looks like it would permanently take the place of paddle wax, and i like that its bright colors for visibility.
just looks like it might be a little rough on soft, wet hands.

Re: Paddle grip
Have not tried this product.
Have tried all sorts of tennis racket grip tape etc etc and various waxes with sticky stuff being my favorite. I still use sticky stuff on some paddles.
Last year I purchased a Werner Shogun paddle and like it a lot, had problems tho with the shaft grip just not feeling right.
I used a kit from padz called pro paddle grips and am super pleased with this product on my Shogun.
It is down this page.

Re: Paddle grip
yeah i use stony boater wax and i like it, but i just wanted to try an alternative.
ive considered the foam hand grips but i just dont know how i would feel about those. it seems like it would make me feel like i had less control.

Re: Paddle grip
Every body is different but for me, the foam gives me better control than either the bare paddle shaft or a waxed up paddle shaft.
The foam Padz use does not have a slick surface
I am really happy with it.
I only put the Padz on the right hand control side of the paddle shaft, leaving the left part of the shaft free to rotate as needed.

Re: Paddle grip

Re: Paddle grip
Same here. I may try it on my spare paddle first to see how it goes. Thanks.

Re: Paddle grip
You might try this stuff.
Seems similar and may be cheaper (and found at the hardware store).

Re: Paddle grip
Rather than worry over the specifics of grip, in racing we simply use a bit of electrical tape wrapped around the paddle a couple of times to mark the edges of where we want our hands to be. It is simply an index, a tactile reminder to know where your hands should be.
