Kayak Recycle

Post by jeffpinnell » Thu Nov 06, 2008 4:02 am

I have a Riot Booster in the attic with the stern and bow cut out. It was a warrantied boat that riot required the ends to be cut out of and sent back for replacement. We're moving to the central Arkansas area and I need to do something with it...if you're interested let me know. Hate to dispose of it if someone can recycle all or part of it.

Bet you can drop it off here... http://www.goldmanrecycling.com/

It will be nice to have you in town. Perhaps we could spend more time together instead of infrequently at Rockport!

Makes great cutting boards. Or with some heat and creativity, camp plates.

Save any foot braces, seat, backband, ratchets, drain plugs or pads if you have the room to store them. There is always someone who wants to redo an older boat and you will be a hero to them if you have the parts.

You can also sometimes make hand paddles from parts of the hull and deck.

You might also want to save a few strips of the boat for welding strips on other people's boats.

You'd never guess that Susan says I am an incurable pack rat. But my scrap piles have been used hundreds of times.

I've got a great idea. I don't know if any of y'all have heard of/seen this guy but he calls himself "the electric kayak drummer." I saw him at Gauley fest. He had an old boat upside down on a stand and he had glued sensor pads from an electric drum set to the bottom of the boat. I don't know if he was any good or not because I was pretty far gone at that point. I just thought it was a pretty sweet idea.
