Some of you may be familiar with Spirit Falls on the Little White Salmon River in the Pac-Northwest. Beefy drop that has dealt out some humbling beatings and plenty of close calls.
Great rescue story here involving Jesse Coombs and others. Didn't know much about Jesse till I read this and checked out his web site. But he now has tons of my respect, not only for his mad boating skills, but for the selfless way he and others helped this guy out.
I've boated with a few people of similar character - natural leaders on the river - the kind of people that simply make boating more fun by inspiring confidence, raising everyone's level of play, and you know they got your back if you get in a tight spot. Having the privilege of boating with folks like this is one of the things that truly makes WW kayaking so rich and rewarding.
Anyway, enjoy the story and photos. Hopefully it will inspire you like it did me.
