Great Plains Rivers

Post by JohnG » Mon Aug 04, 2008 11:26 am

Has anyone paddled on some of the rivers in the great plains, like the Upper Missouri in Montana or the Niobrara in Nebraska? If so, how was the trip?

I've done 34 miles of the Missouri in Montana from the Wolf Creek Holter dam to Cascade. It's beautiiful, wide and full of very large trout. Drift boats, small rafts and canoes work well. Lots of roadside along the river. Not a whitewater action stretch. I don't know if he is still a member, but John Bowen used to be on this list and he is a high plains specialist and had a seasonal outfitting company I believe.
