I was looking for tips on campgrounds around the Caddo this spring.
Last year I paddled from Caddo Gap (put in at the old swinging bridge) to Glenwood.
I camped at Arrowhead's campground near Caddo Gap last March when they were under heavy remodeling of the campground. I believe it is almost complete, but have not been there since.
I know Caddo River Canoe and Kayak has a location in Glenwood, but it is right in the middle of town and does not have the "camping" feel I prefer.
I believe both of these businesses have a location in Caddo Gap and Glenwood, but am not familiar with where all of these campgrounds are.
Any suggestions on more secluded campgrounds would be appreciated.

Caddo River Canoe and Kayak has a place in the narrows they use to unload boats that should work for a good camping spot if you don't mind a bit of light highway traffic noise. It is just upriver from the Arrowhead on opposite river bank.

Re: Caddo River Camping Questions
Cabra,
Check out Caddo River Ranch website, they have a very scenic, quite location upstream from Caddo Gap. We have stopped by there on several float trips to eat our lunch or just take a break. They have four or five cabins, and a well-kept commons area. They don't mention tent camping on their website, so I'd give them a call. I think we may have seen tents there before, not sure. I do know they have plenty of room for it though. The float from Norman down to The Swinging Bridge is about six miles, this place is located a little more than halfway through that section.
The folks at Caddo Canoe outfitters in Glenwood also have some nice Cabins on the river just below Markham Mountain ( upstream of the Glenwood Bridge about a mile or so. Again, I don't know if they allow tent camping but it's worth a call.
When we get back on the river within the next month or so, I'll check the progress at Arrowhead and try and post.
Best Regards
Jim

Re: Caddo River Camping Questions
Last May I spent parts of three days paddling from Glenwood to Runion Bridge (upper end of DeGray Lake). We camped on gravel bars. I hadn't been on that stretch in a while, and there is a lot more development downstream in recent years. It was difficult to find a good gravel bar that was not close to a house or two. Closer to Amity, the housing diminishes. Camped the second night just downstream from the second (hwy 84 I think) bridge at Amity. Great gravel bar with some small bluffs opposite.
Below Glenwood, I assume all the land through which the river flows is private until you reach the Corps land on the upper end of DeGray. But I'd feel comfortable camping on gravel bars unless someone comes to your site and suggests you move elsewhere. Not very likely, though, I think.
