A few folks will be paddling the gentle two mile section of the Caddo near Arkadelphia on Sunday, July 21, 2013. We will meet at the take-out (the tube rental company next to the highway 7 bridge) at 11:00 a.m. to consolidate and shuttle up to the put-in. Everyone is welcome to join us.
Full information on this section of the Caddo, including location map and video of a past outing, can be found at http://class2arkansas.com/caddo-river-1/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: CADDO RIVER TRIP SUNDAY 7/21/13
Thanks for providing us this resource on additional rivers and creeks to float in Arkansas.
I do have one suggestion - in your description, you say "The Caddo River ... in Caddo Valley offers the best Class 1 family friendly paddling in Arkansas." That may have been true at one time, but there have been several serious problems this year with the party scene that develops on summer weekends; not just heavy drinking, but also acts of violence. I know of at least two that made the local news, and have been told by those who live closer to the area that the situation on the Caddo is very similar to the Spring River. On certain days, and at certain times, it really is not "family friendly." I suggest you revise the description by adding some tips on how to choose the family friendly times to float, which I would suspect to be weekdays or just going in the morning and avoiding the late afternoon.

Trash: Get a little every time you go!

I'd affirm that warning. Weekend afternoons are a steady stream of large groups under the influence: loud, rowdy, and . . . Late yesterday we noticed a couple had come over from the river into our small lake. Seemed to be a lot of skin showing. A quick look through binoculars REVEALED quite a display of amorous behavior. Maybe I should mount a game camera down by our access. Might make for some interesting wild game shots.
Re: CADDO RIVER TRIP SUNDAY 7/21/13
Had a nice trip yesterday (even though rained on for 30 mins) with some new lady paddlers from the Village. The turn where a lot was happening last year, including 4 wheelers doing beer delivery, has now been gated off it seems. But yesterday was not an ideal day to judge the latest shananagins. Water level seemed low for the normal release period.
