Stream Restoration @ Sweetbriar Park Tonight (5/8/12)

Post by Half Ton » Tue May 08, 2012 9:31 am

Come on out help finish up a Natural Channel Stream Restoration AND the Watershed Conservation Resource Center by planting native trees, shrubs, and grasses along Niokaska Creek in Sweetbriar Park right here in Fayetteville from 4 - 7 pm.

Pizza will be served up for volunteers BUT more importantly volunteers will get to see a sweet stream restoration and learn more about the considerations involved in such an undertaking.

Man o Man, the restoration site out there looks like it could be a new play hole right here in Fayetteville. Maybe 3 or 4.

It was good to see some ACC folk out to help with the streambank restoration process!

Most of the times, you can't see the types of plants we were planting except for in the wilderness areas around the state. It's really neat to see them right here in town.

Here is a link to the WCRC website although if you visit them on the FB there is more up to date info.
