As the f'ing weather map tonight gives me dejavu of too many great storms rumbling just north of us, leaving all those creeks high and dry, this is officially
BAD RIVER KARMA
<posting up for boatball when yet another storm isn't giving us water to do damned much of anything else!>
Gonna need a full face for the game if we don't get on something in the meantime.

Fun, Fun, Fun and hanging out with awesome people would be my first explaining of Boatball. When we play it is like football in Kayaks, you don’t hit people with paddles and shove them over. We do toss the ball around like water polo. You can try and knock the ball down with your paddle too. You can go after the ball though and it might get a little ruff. It is a team effort to score points like football by: blocking, intercepting, and foiling the other teams plays, also to score points you have to have the ball and throw it to your team mate which is across the line that we set up.
You should come out when we play or come out when Rivervalley plays.
The main thing, we have a lot of fun and lose about 20lbs from the winter fat cells

Man, I miss boatball. KC boatball enthusiasm is pretty close to zero. Of course, the whitewater's pretty close to zero too.
Man I miss NW Ark.

BHK, Victor is pretty accurate in his description of the game and is technically correct. He doesn't hit people with the paddle AND try to turn them over, he just tries to turn them over.

That being said, no one is played more aggressively than they play. That allows beginners to join in the fun without fear of intimidation. I can not wait. If the streams aren't up it is absolutely the best way to stay in shape for paddling

Jon - Any bad river karma caused by my post was purely unintentional & oh yeah, I always wear a full face helmet.
Here's my favorite inspirational boatball video by the gang in Memphis, Enjoy!

Standing offer : If any NW chapter member needs to borrow gear for someone who does not have something or anything to play boat ball with the NW ACC Chapter, particularly someone new, I will loan them boats and gear, IF they will come by and pick it up and return it afterwards and be responsible for it. None of my gear is for sale, but some of what I have kept was kept or even bought just so it could be loaned.
I think that Boatball could be a great recruiting tool for our chapter as anyone who gets hooked on it will most likely also get hooked on river paddleing.
I know the cove here at Monte Ne on Beaver lake is not a popular site for playing boatball due to it's distance from Fayetteville (just as far as it was for me to go everywhere when I played before my neck went bad), but it does have parking and access to my house's 2 bathrooms, house it's self for after game party, charcoal grills, coolers, and screened porch and I can probably be talked into having food ready at a certain time if the chapter lets me know when. That has been and will be another standing offer.
When the water gets too low to play at West Fork park and y'all start looking for another place to play, remember that the lake has not dried up in recent memory and the water quality is good here, and not scummy or poluted like other sites. It also tends NOT to have a "setting sun in your eyes problem" due to the orientation of the cove and the mountain. I'll try to keep a set of marker floats and a ball in the horse trailer in case anyone needs to borrow them this year as I have in the past.

Eric - Thanks for the offer! Hopefully one day we'll have enough boatball enthusiast north of hwy 412 to have a game in your neck of the woods. It would be convenient just 10 -15 minutes from my place.
Ryan - Don't remember seeing that video before. Good job! Noticed a yellow paddle blade in your face on more than one occassion.

& we seemed to be chasing Levi down a lot ... that boy is fast!
Been putting together a back up set of gear to keep in the north. New spare ball should be here any day. Don't know what happened to other spare. I'm thinking maybe the Giant (Ryan C) ate it.
Hoping we get some rain so we'll have enough water to even play boatball.
