I read that the other day. There were some boaters arrested with their boats, but not on the water, a few months ago. Sounds like some bull ish.

This story reminds me of my own less epic version back in December of 1982. The bridge above Gilbert was awash when I drove my jeep across. The residents of Gilbert were hostile with waves lapping near the store. We worked our way upstream, intent on a good run. The billboard at Ponca had "river closed" notices posted on it. So we went up some more. Thus began my first and only run of the Hailstone in an open canoe. It was a rocket ride with no time to catch our breath or take pictures, no room for error in a seventeen foot plastic canoe filled only with wrapped and strapped foam billets.

I'll never forget the faces of the Ranger (horror) and disappointed boaters (amazement) standing at the takeout when we came flying in. We weren't arrested or fined, though we probably deserved it. The ranger shook his head and finished stapling new closing notices while we packed up.

I must admit that it sounded like a good idea at the time.

Justin, this epic adventure is also possible in arkansas. Cedar creek looks like tons of fun.Just take out at the boy scout bridge then protage the falls and then cruise on down to the petit jean river. It an be done but getting caught would result in a hefty fine.

So I'll jump in.

I admit I only skimmed the Yellowstone story. But the gist of it seemed to be "I know I wasn't supposed to, BUT I WANTED TO (heavy with 5 year old inflection)"

My (now 7 year old) grandson is outgrowing that attitude - in an adult it's just another example of the narcissism of our culture.

With the advent of GPS enabled cellphones and SPOT providing yuppie 911 to any and all it can only get worse.
