Re: Rec School ones that want to paddle not in classes?
Hey ya'll. Not sure if you are still with internet access, but my sister and I are planning on doing exactly what ya'll are doing this weekend. We will call you tonight to figure out a meeting place tomorrow. We were thinking of staying at Spring River Oaks. We can help shuttle! My phone number is ...

Re: Spring River Sat 6/12 Sunday 6/13
My sister and I have been planning a trip on the Spring River for Sat and Sunday the 26th and 27th. Thinking about camping at Spring River Oaks which is halfway. So Sat could go from the dam to the campground, then sunday from the campground to Hardy. We'd be driving up from Memphis on Sat AM. So ...

Re: Newbie Trip to South Fork and Spring River
Oh and Woody,
Thanks as well, I would be angered by dummies with glass containers so I am happy that is enforced. Are there rangers or officers that patrol the Spring River on a regular basis? That would make me feel better about floating it for the first time. Not that it's the most fierce river ...

Re: Newbie Trip to South Fork and Spring River
Yes Cowper, what a great help you are! Luckily I am skilled with GPS and my brain has a pretty excellent navigation system of it's own. I will load those coordinates into my unit before we head out up there. I think camping at Spring River Oaks would be a good idea since that would be the take out ...

Kayak transport systems question
Does anyone know if yakima's kayak stacker works ok for transporting recreational kayaks? I need to transport two kayaks on my rack and am looking for the most affordable system. Any recommendations?

Re: Newbie Trip to South Fork and Spring River
Cowper,
That is information that I am looking for. I have heard of the unruly behavior on the Spring River, so I hope that can be avoided by going on a Sunday.
The Fish Hatchery to Spring River Oaks - appx how many hours would you give estimate it would take? Sounds like fun :)
Thanks for the input.

Re: Newbie Trip to South Fork and Spring River
I have already set my dates. If anyone is interested in going I'd love to meet and float with some other safe exprienced paddlers.
Sunday will be the Spring River.
Can anyone give me details on any parts of the Spring River that would be good to know beforehand?
I live in Memphis now, so we do not ...

Newbie Trip to South Fork and Spring River
An intermediate rec. kayaker, myself, and my novice sister are planning to get some water time in this summer. We were going to sign up for the recreational kayak class but it filled up. So we are just going to go.
