Organized by Arkansas Canoe Club, University of Arkansas Extension Service, Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association and Illinois River Watershed Partnership.

Many thanks to Savage Spanke and Sugarmtngal for running one of the volunteer check in points and to Kristian for making the nice map. (map quality has been degraded due to scanner, but is the nicest clean up map I have ever seen).

Where are the ACC folks working?
I can't make the 4pm start. I'll be there as early as possible.

Cool! Glad to hear you plan on coming out Kurt. Just come whenever you can and the same should also go for anyone else who wants to come on out.

Gretchen is going to be checking in folk at the Sycamore Apt. Complex which is located on Sycamore st. and Scull Creek Trail.

It is a very trashy area around there, both up and down stream. So, there will also be a big trash trailer there, and a great need for the ACC to put a hurtin' on that litter and other assorted trash.

The creek water level is low, the weather will be warm, so wear those shorts and sandals if you plan on wading any.

Don't forget about the free food and door prizes that start at Wilson Park at 7.

There are some pelican cases, a sleeping bag, gift cards, shirts, hats, and other cool things donated by local businesses for door prizes.

Should be a lot of fun :)

Yes John, it'll be fun as usual- bringing my Copertone
suntan lotion because it's gonna be another
beautiful day! Clean ups are important, and
being visible to the public helps recruit
more volunteers ; oh and more ACC members! :D

There were approximately 107 folk out, and around 20 ACC/boaters out tearing it up. Some, I have never met before. I have not added up the other organizations present, but I'll bet it was about 20 or so of them too.

A good turn out and great work you all! I don't have a weight yet but I'll bet about 2 tons of trash got picked up out of that creek.

YES, two tons  The truck tire and axle combo, work out equipment, slagg metal, angle iron, and furniture (3 couches) has to add up to at least a ton.

Thanks for taking pics Gretchen!

So, that means that Scull Creek will be clean until the next rain.........good thing we're headed for some serious drought...... No more rain til hurricane season......... :hammer:
